Mood Board Monday

Happy Monday dear readers — Hope everyone has a good week as we look forward to the last holiday weekend of the summer and dive into September next week (umm woah!). Before we get to the actual weddings (it’s been all showers and bachelorettes for me this summer), I’ve got a mood board full of summery yellow details from my (almost) sissy’s shower.

We threw her a champagne brunch complete with mimosas and an omelette man. Mason jars tied with burlap ribbon and raffia (made by my sister) were filled with sunflowers on every table. Each guest received a wooden spoon with the inscription “The Perfect Recipe” — a nod to the bride’s love for cooking, as well as homemade lemon bars.

It was a perfect summer afternoon… And now I’m ready for the fall weddings to begin!

{my best friend’s wedding} Bridal Shower Recap

I first introduced you to Danielle back when we were bridesmaid dress shopping — and boy, how time has flown! You met her wedding planner — and last week, I shared some pictures from her bachelorette weekend. It’s been fun to have been involved in so many steps along the way to her wedding day, which is just a month away!

Her shower, this past Saturday, was a picturesque summer day — and the event planner in me can’t help but share with you the details!

IMG_3131We had each guest write a postcard of advice on marriage, love & life that we will send to the newlyweds throughout their first year of marriage!

Each postcard featured a place the couple has traveled to together — Plus, homemade floral arrangements by the bride’s mom and childhood photos of the bride & groom!
IMG_3150The signature drink was an ode to the bride’s mom — Showcased on the chalkboard my baby sister made for my own shower last year!
IMG_3145Layered cupcakes in mason jars complete with a take-home spoon made the perfect favor — The groom’s sister baked them all and sure outdid herself!

Bachelorette Party Extras

There’s no doubt in my mind that the best part of bachelorette parties is getting all your best girlfriends in the same place, staying up too late and ending the night with a dance party and copious pillow talk (because you’ll definitely be sharing a bed with one of these ladies). But you’re also there to spoil the bride-to-be — and what better way than a few fun personalized surprises and extra goodies for your girls!

For my soon-to-be sister-in-law’s recent bachelorette party, we surprised her with personalized tank tops and mini cans of champagne tied up with a cute straw. Take a look!

Fancy Friday

balloon tasselsI love any excuse to throw a party — and between the birthdays, bachelorettes and showers this summer my party planning skills are being put to the test! But I (not-so-secretly) love it!

It’s birthday central over here (Hello June babies!) — and a few birthday shout outs are in order.

Last weekend it was all about this girl — and my DIY photo booth skills were put to the test. But this lady’s birthday didn’t go unnoticed either.

Today is this past bride’s birthday!

This weekend we’ll be celebrating my favorite snowboarders — and be thinking of my sissie-to-be in Chicago!

Happy birthday girls!!

Mood Board Monday

This weekend was spent celebrating this girl’s birthday in Charlottesville, VA doing one of my favorite activities — wine tasting. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to some of the best places in the world for wine, which has really opened my eyes and taught me a thing or two. I really like learning about the vineyards of the world — Don’t get me wrong, I like drinking it too!

But one of the best parts of wine tasting is the scenery — Vineyards are beautiful places and it’s no surprise why they are so popular for wedding venues. Can’t you picture cocktail hour around the pool or in the yard above? I didn’t get married anywhere close to a vineyard, but I did sneak some little wine details into our wedding decor with the corks and wine bottles shown here.

ps. That’s the house we were lucky enough to stay in this weekend.

How to Get a Restaurant Bridal Shower Ready

LOVE balloons via Etsy

Restaurants are one of the easiest places to host a bridal shower because they basically will do everything for you. However, it’s always good to add your own personal touch to a space — and make it feel extra special for the guest of honor.

And guests just love adorable décor! Stumped on what to bring? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Confetti. It comes in every design and color under the sun. Sprinkle it down the center of your tables for a pop of color.

Mylar balloons. Spell out B-R-I-D-E, M-R-S or L-O-V-E in large metallic letter balloons. They easily fill up open space and make for adorable Instagrams!

Homemade floral arrangements. Ask the hostess if you can bring in your own flowers. Purchase small vases at the Dollar Store, add a coat of spray paint and pick up flowers from your local grocery store! Flowers can be pricey and this is a great way to save some pennies.

Favors. There are so many cute things you can gift your guests – from sweet treats to bubbly to nail polish. Add a little thank you tag and place at each table setting — Again, this will dress up your table and your guests will love the personal touch! Our rule of thumb — Choose a theme and pick something your guests can definitely use (or nibble on the way home)!
