{local vendors} Fox Events and Design

Here I go again making new friends with amazing women around town who also happen to be wedding vendors… Never ceases to amaze me how much talent and passion there is out there! Which brings me to introduce you to Britney, owner and visionary, behind Fox Events and Design. Read on for more about her event planning business and photos from a recent bridal shower she did in NYC!

From Britney…When I started my career I was producing events such as Sundance, the Super Bowl and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I eventually decided to leave sunny California behind because I fell in love with a New York City boy and moved on to the city that never sleeps. After designing my own wedding off the beaten path in Costa Rica, I knew my passion for design and producing events was now going to be focused on weddings and helping other brides have a truly incredible big day. With that said Fox Events and Design was born and it has been an exciting, passionate journey of mine ever since!

I love everything about the planning process, from the initial meet and greet with my bride/groom/clients, to finding a destination for a wedding or location for an event. I have established a trusted book of amazingly talented vendors and artists who I work really well with and always deliver.

Being able to help my clients vision come to life is a pretty amazing feeling and something I am so thankful to be able to continue to see and hopefully feel for a very long time!

An Easy Bridal Shower Activity

I recently shared with you this super simple bridal shower game — And today I’d like to share another easy shower activity to do with your guests. I know when planning a shower it’s nice to have these little extras to make the event just a touch more special.

IMG_3131This is a cute way to have guests give their own little bit of advice to the couple. Have each guest write her advice on a postcard, addressed to the bride & groom — Then mail one postcard a week to the couple for their first year of marriage, so each week they receive a new tip in the mail!

You can frame this little poem to leave out as instructions:

Please share your wisdom
about marriage, love and life,
the secret to being a good husband
or a thoughtful, caring wife.

We’ll send your advice
throughout their first year,
so please address
your notes to them here:

IMG_3133As an extra touch we ordered vintage postcards from different places the bride & groom had traveled to together — You can purchase some pretty awesome postcards on Zazzle, here.

So simple! It gives the bride & groom a little something to look forward to after the wedding – and it makes your guests feel included!

Hope everyone has a nice, short week and eases into what is my favorite month of the year!

Mood Board Monday

Happy Monday dear readers — Hope everyone has a good week as we look forward to the last holiday weekend of the summer and dive into September next week (umm woah!). Before we get to the actual weddings (it’s been all showers and bachelorettes for me this summer), I’ve got a mood board full of summery yellow details from my (almost) sissy’s shower.

We threw her a champagne brunch complete with mimosas and an omelette man. Mason jars tied with burlap ribbon and raffia (made by my sister) were filled with sunflowers on every table. Each guest received a wooden spoon with the inscription “The Perfect Recipe” — a nod to the bride’s love for cooking, as well as homemade lemon bars.

It was a perfect summer afternoon… And now I’m ready for the fall weddings to begin!

An Easy Bridal Shower Game

Shower games can be tricky. Should we do a game? How many? Is this too cheesy? Is it too embarrassing? Sound familiar? Well I’m here to help a sister out. With the help of my best girlfriends, I’ve come up with the perfect bridal shower game for any bride! Keep reading for the {oh so simple} rules and pretty print-out you can use {compliments of my girl, Faye}.

The game is easy. It’s called 20 Questions (or 25, or 28). I’ve given you 28 to work with. Get the groom the answer all the questions before the shower. Ask the bride one question at a time. If the bride and groom’s answers match, YAY! everyone claps. And if they don’t, make her pop a piece of gum, an M&M or mini marshmallow in her mouth (whatever you think your bride will prefer). What makes this funny is she’s got to keep all the candy in her mouth until the end of game.

See?! So simple. What’s great is that all your guests will learn a little more about the couple — And hey, the couple may even learn a thing or two about each other!
Bridal Shower QuizHave a great weekend my loves! I’ll be rounding out my triple crown of bridal showers tomorrow — This time for my almost sissie!

{my best friend’s wedding} Bridal Shower Recap

I first introduced you to Danielle back when we were bridesmaid dress shopping — and boy, how time has flown! You met her wedding planner — and last week, I shared some pictures from her bachelorette weekend. It’s been fun to have been involved in so many steps along the way to her wedding day, which is just a month away!

Her shower, this past Saturday, was a picturesque summer day — and the event planner in me can’t help but share with you the details!

IMG_3131We had each guest write a postcard of advice on marriage, love & life that we will send to the newlyweds throughout their first year of marriage!

Each postcard featured a place the couple has traveled to together — Plus, homemade floral arrangements by the bride’s mom and childhood photos of the bride & groom!
IMG_3150The signature drink was an ode to the bride’s mom — Showcased on the chalkboard my baby sister made for my own shower last year!
IMG_3145Layered cupcakes in mason jars complete with a take-home spoon made the perfect favor — The groom’s sister baked them all and sure outdid herself!
IMG_3212The gorgeous bride-to-be & her beautiful mother!
IMG_3215The groom and all the ladies!

IMG_3226Cheers to the happy couple! Can’t wait to witness the two of you get married one month from today!

How to Make the Perfect Ribbon Bouquet

IMG_3126There’s always someone at a bridal shower who knows how to make that darn ribbon bouquet — You know the one made with all the ribbons from all those gifts that the bride carries during the rehearsal. But have you ever wondered how to make one?! At this past Saturday’s shower for this fabulous bride-to-be, I wondered just that. Thankfully, one of my best gal pal’s had been taught this oh-so-necessary bridal shower skill. Read on for my step-by-step how-to.

Step 1:
Using either a paper plate or cutting a large circle out of a gift box, cut a hole in the middle of the cardboard circle.
IMG_3077Step 2:
With one of the largest/sturdiest ribbons, make a big bow and thread it through the center. The knot can rest just above the hole.

IMG_3078Step 3:
Continue making bows and threading them through the center — Make sure to let some long ends hang through, as they will act as the handle.

IMG_3092Step 4:
You should have a good base now — and can always secure some of the ribbons to the cardboard itself with tape or staples if necessary. You can also use a ribbon to wrap around the handle portion to secure it all in place underneath.
IMG_3095Step 5:
Next, keep tying bows onto bows until you’ve used all the ribbons. Save any small ribbons or individual bows and flowers for the end. Tie these directly onto the larger bows and spread them out around the top of the bouquet to add some fun pops of color!
IMG_3103And Voilà! The perfect ribbon bouquet!

IMG_3128Congrats Mallory! Can’t wait for your wedding in November!

What to Get Your Shower Hostess

Hosting a bridal shower, like any event, can be hard work. Especially with all the ideas popping up on Pinterest these days (remember this post?!) — It’s not a competition ladies, stick with things that compliment your guest-of-honor. Anyway, I digress. But as a bride, know that your hostess will put in a lot of extra time to make your shower perfect — and it’s nice to thank her in a special way.

Most likely, your mom or bridesmaids will be hosting your shower and you’ve probably already got some gifts up your sleeve for them come your wedding day. But maybe another woman in your family has offered to host the shower or a friend is graciously opening up her home for the occasion. There’s no need to go crazy with additional bridesmaid’s gifts or totally break your wedding budget, but if someone is hosting your shower in their home, it’s always nice to thank them with a little something.

A bottle of bubbly is always my go-to housewarming gift and it works perfectly for a hostess gift too! Since it’s summer, I always have rosé on hand (don’t we all?) — And this Juvé Y Camps Brut Rosé is my new fav. Don’t let the color fool you — It’s dry and delicious! This double wine tote is the baby sister to your classic Lands’ End beach bag, and is also an adorable gift bag for your wine. Not to mention it’s $9.99!

IMG_2432When in doubt, flowers always, always make the perfect hostess gift. Every girl likes flowers and a simple bouquet is not only thoughtful, but will make her smile all week long. Like I said, there’s no need to go overboard — These little things go a long way!

How to Get a Restaurant Bridal Shower Ready

LOVE balloons via Etsy

Restaurants are one of the easiest places to host a bridal shower because they basically will do everything for you. However, it’s always good to add your own personal touch to a space — and make it feel extra special for the guest of honor.

And guests just love adorable décor! Stumped on what to bring? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Confetti. It comes in every design and color under the sun. Sprinkle it down the center of your tables for a pop of color.

Mylar balloons. Spell out B-R-I-D-E, M-R-S or L-O-V-E in large metallic letter balloons. They easily fill up open space and make for adorable Instagrams!

Homemade floral arrangements. Ask the hostess if you can bring in your own flowers. Purchase small vases at the Dollar Store, add a coat of spray paint and pick up flowers from your local grocery store! Flowers can be pricey and this is a great way to save some pennies.

Favors. There are so many cute things you can gift your guests – from sweet treats to bubbly to nail polish. Add a little thank you tag and place at each table setting — Again, this will dress up your table and your guests will love the personal touch! Our rule of thumb — Choose a theme and pick something your guests can definitely use (or nibble on the way home)!
