Today’s wedding is absolutely adorable and comes from Erica, blogger (and baker) of Sweet Sunday Mornings — You’re going to want to eat everything on her blog. But first, you’ve got to take a look at her wedding. I’m loving every single detail of it!
What’s your love story? Or more simply, how did you and Adam meet?
Adam and I met five years before we got married – he actually knew my roommates (two of our bridesmaids) before we met and came over for dinner at my apartment. I could say the rest is history but really we didn’t start dating for a year. We started dating on September 29, 2009, four years to the day before we got married.
When/where was your wedding?
We got married at Hacienda Vargas in Algodones, New Mexico, right outside Albuquerque where I grew up, on September 29, 2013.
Tell me a little about your wedding style.
Adam and I both had a hard time defining a style or a theme for our wedding – we even had a hard time saying what our colors were because we weren’t sure (I think they came through in the end though). What was most important to us in wedding planning was throwing the best party we had ever been to. We wanted our friends and family to be involved and to love the day as much as we did. Adam’s mom and other women in our lives made the desserts for the dessert table and my sister-in-law made our wedding cake. My aunt and uncle built our chuppah (the wedding canopy), our family friends set up the day-of details (like the centerpieces), my mom did the calligraphy for everything wedding related including the signs, Adam’s aunt did all of the flowers for the wedding with the help of so many women close to us and one of Adam’s groomsmen played guitar as we walked down the aisle. We wanted everything to be personal and we wanted the people we love to love our wedding.
What made your wedding dress you?
OH, my wedding dress….how I wish I could wear it all the time. My wedding dress was me because it was classic but had small, beautiful details. It was exactly what I wanted, sweetheart neckline, low back, buttons all the way down. And, I got it consignment, which is also just what I wanted.
One piece of advice for brides-to-be. Go.
Don’t worry about every last detail – about ten days before your wedding, just let it all go. What hasn’t already been planned for will turn out OK. Instead of planning those infinitely small things in those last ten days, love every moment and be with those that are traveling from everywhere (all around the world in our case) and enjoy them. The color of your tablecloths or the misplaced welcome sign won’t matter as you marry the love of your life in front of everyone you love.
